What is Triathlon?

A triathlon is an endurance sports event consisting of swimming, cycling and running over various distances. As a result, proficiency in swimming, cycling, or running alone is not sufficient to guarantee a triathlon athlete a competitive time. Trained triathletes have learned to race each stage in a way that preserves their energy and endurance for subsequent stages. In most modern triathlons, these events are placed back-to-back in immediate sequence and a competitor's official time includes the time required to "transition" between the individual legs of the race, including any time necessary for changing clothes and shoes.

ParaTri Inclusive

Wherever possible this will be an inclusive event for those with special needs.

Upon receiving your entry form we will consider any impact your disability has on the event and advise accordingly.

Sprint Distance Event Information

750m Sea Swim

The swim takes place in the Sea off the coast of Bexhill-on-Sea, with participants entering from the beach and starting the race from within two buoys. Those in the adult wave will complete a single-lap course marked out by buoys, ending back at the beach. Full lifeguard support is provided on the day.

20km Road Cycle

The cycle is completed over 2 laps of a 10km course starting from the transition area at the foot of Galley Hill and following the coastal roads to the Cooden Beach Resort. Cyclist return along the same route and u-turn before reaching the transition area the first time to complete a second lap. This is a flat course that is likely to produce some personal bests.

5km Promenade Run

The run will be a one-lap 5km route along the fast and flat tarmac promenade of Bexhill-on-Sea.

Transition

Transition will be based at the foot of Galley Hill on De La Warr Parade in Bexhill-on-Sea. It is at the top of the beach, just off the promenade so not far to travel between disciplines. The finish line will be next to the transition area.
